Okay, I’ve been promising this to Daunt for a while. Note that I pretty much never write fanfiction and, on top of that, I’m not really into non-canon pairings or genderswap. This is different for me. But I’m intrigued enough by the notion that Tony/Steve works when one of them is a woman in canon (according to an AU) that I wanted to explore it in all its ridiculousness.
I’m breaking it into several parts. This one isn’t too porny.

So, I saw this quote on tumblr taken from encyclopedia-dramatica I believe. Anyway.

Also, for those who aren’t satisfied without a specific scientific source: see the 1995 study by Jian-Ning Zhou, Michel A. Hofman, Louis J.G. Gooren, and Dick F. Swaab, “A Sex Difference in the Human Brain and its Relation to Transsexuality”.
The researchers found that a part of the brain called the BSTc (the central subdivision of the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis) differs in size and cell number between the male and female sexes. In compaing the BSTc of individuals of varying gender identities and sexual orientations, they found that cisgendered (non-trans) male homosexuals had male-sized BSTs while transsexual women (assigned male at birth) had BSTs more closely resembling a female brain. Insufficient androgen (due to sex reassignment surgery) in the transwomen studied was found not to be a factor in BST size, as cisgendered people with abnormal hormone fluctuations showed no such changes. The researchers also had an opportunity to study the brain of an elderly person with admitted cross-gender tendencies who had never pursued any sort of physical transition. This person’s BST was female-sized.
Tl;dr: Transsexualism is science FACT.
